SafeBase alternatives for security reviews, compared

How we compared

AccountMade wrote this page, so treat it as a vendor's view. We read three vendors' own pages on 2026-10-20 and compare the same three things for each: the published price, whether a buyer can draft questionnaire answers on the cheapest public plan, and whether the vendor's own page shows an approval step before anything is shared.

Where a vendor's page does not say, the table says "not published". A competitor's claim about a tool is labelled with the competitor's name. Our rival page is Conveyor's "SafeBase Alternatives: Conveyor and 4 Other Competitors to Evaluate"8, dated July 18, 20248. It has no comparison table and lists no prices, so we cannot copy its numbers; we re-read each vendor's page instead.

SafeBase's old pricing address now redirects to Drata's plans page6, so SafeBase is bought as part of Drata. That is why the SafeBase column cites drata.com.

Where SafeBase is the better choice

Choose SafeBase (Drata) if any of these describe you:

  • You need SAML SSO or SCIM today. Drata's plans page lists SAML/SSO under Foundation6 and SCIM under Advanced6. AccountMade lists SAML SSO and SCIM as not currently available1.
  • You want questionnaire help inside a compliance and Trust Center suite. Drata's page lists the Trust Center and AI Questionnaire Assistance as tiers of one plan set6.
  • You send Salesforce-driven questionnaires. Drata lists "Salesforce Integration Standard" under Advanced6. We found no Salesforce integration listed on the AccountMade pages we checked.
  • Your questionnaire volume is a fixed number. Drata lists "Questionnaire Assistance for Up to 100 Questionnaires" under Foundation6. A third-party review from Wolfia says the entry tier covers 107; Drata's own page is the one to trust, and you should confirm the count in your quote.

One more reason to look at SafeBase: Skypher, a competitor, says SafeBase's questionnaire automation is "not the main focus"3. That is a competitor's opinion, not a test, but it is worth asking SafeBase to show your hardest questionnaire during a trial.

Conveyor in this comparison

Conveyor's pricing page shows a Free plan at $0 a year4 that says "No access to Questionnaire Automation"4. Its Enterprise plan is custom priced4. So the cheapest public Conveyor plan is a trust center plan, and questionnaire automation needs a conversation with sales.

Conveyor lists a "Browser extension for customer portals"4 and "SSO with SCIM provisioning, public API"4. If your buyers send portal questionnaires or you need SCIM, it belongs on your shortlist.

Conveyor's 2024 post is a reminder to re-check old comparisons. It says Vanta's questionnaire answering "is limited to Excel files under 2MB without drop-downs"8. Vanta's pricing page today lists "Bulk answering for spreadsheets"5. Both claims are a vendor's description of a rival, so verify them in a trial.

Where AccountMade is the better choice

Choose AccountMade if you want a price you can read before you talk to anyone, and an approval gate you can see.

  • A published price. Pro is $99 per user a month1; Business is $149 per user a month, and above 10 users it is a demo booking1. Drata lists no prices6.
  • Approval before sharing. Nothing reaches a buyer until a person approves it2.
  • Claims with a source and an approver. Each control claim keeps its source, version and approver2, and the pricing page lists "A source on every line, with an alert if a fact changes"1.
  • Change alerts. The pricing page lists an alert if a fact changes1.
  • Free viewers. Internal viewers and external recipients are unlimited on every plan1.
  • A no-card trial. Free for 14 days, no card needed, no automatic conversion1.

Drafts are unlimited on every plan; each user can start up to 10 new drafts a day, and editing, downloading and sharing have no limit1. Exports are DOCX, PPTX, XLSX, HTML and PDF1.

When not to choose AccountMade: you need SAML SSO or SCIM1, a customer API or data residency1, portal connectors (we found none listed on AccountMade's pages), a published accuracy figure (we found none), or a trust center in the same product.

Buyer checklist before you switch

Ask each vendor, in writing, before you move off SafeBase:

  1. Price. What is the annual total for your questionnaire volume, including add-ons such as "Additional Questionnaires"? Drata lists that as an add-on6.
  2. Your hardest questionnaire. Bring one spreadsheet and one portal questionnaire to the trial. Count the answers your team still edits.
  3. File formats. Drata's page lists "Support for Word, PDF, and TXT files"6. Ask each vendor which file types and portals it fills, and what happens with a spreadsheet.
  4. Approval. Who must approve an answer before it is shared, and where is that recorded? AccountMade's answer is that nothing is shared until a person approves it2.
  5. Security terms. Ask whether SSO, SCIM, an API and data residency are included. AccountMade lists SAML SSO, SCIM, a customer API and data residency as not currently available1.
  6. Exit. Ask how to export your answers if you leave.

Questions buyers ask

Who are SafeBase's competitors?
Conveyor's SafeBase comparison post, dated July 18, 20248, lists Conveyor, SafeBase, Whistic, Vanta, Hypercomply and Drata8. This page compares SafeBase with Conveyor and AccountMade.
Does SafeBase have AI security questionnaire automation?
Drata's plans page lists AI Questionnaire Assistance, with up to 100 questionnaires under Foundation6 and support for Word, PDF and TXT files6. It lists no prices6.
SafeBase vs Vanta: which publishes a price?
Neither. Drata's plans page shows no prices6, and Vanta's pricing page sends buyers to a demo for personalized pricing5. Vanta lists 25 questionnaires a year on Plus5.

Sources and last-checked dates

Every source below was read on 2026-10-20. Drata's plans page returned a bot challenge to our fetch tool, so its text was captured with a page-reading tool rather than raw HTML; check drata.com/plans before relying on a Drata tier detail. Wolfia and Skypher are competitors of the tools they describe, so their statements are labelled as third-party. If a figure here differs from the vendor's page today, the vendor's page wins.
