The one-sentence difference

Vanta is a compliance platform that also answers questionnaires; AccountMade is an answer workflow that does not run compliance. Vanta's pricing page lists "Automated evidence collection for audit readiness"4, and its product page says Questionnaire Automation is available as a standalone product or as an add-on to an existing Vanta plan5. AccountMade drafts the security brief from approved control claims2.

AccountMade wrote this page, so read it as a vendor's view. Every Vanta fact below is quoted from Vanta's own pages, read on 2026-10-20. Vanta's best-of list, which ranks Vanta first6 and is dated September 15, 20266, says "we may be biased about Vanta being the top option"6. It lists no prices. We do not claim either tool is better for everyone.

How each drafts answers

Vanta. Vanta says it searches your knowledge base of security documentation and previous questionnaires to generate responses5. That knowledge base is built from previous questionnaires and documents and policies uploaded to Vanta5, and it pulls in the latest Vanta policy documentation5. When no exact match exists, Vanta's AI generates well-cited responses for you to review and approve5. Tags like product, region and industry organize the knowledge base5.

AccountMade. Answers come from an approved claim library. Each control claim keeps its source, version and approver2. AccountMade checks each requirement in a buyer's questionnaire against approved evidence and shows what is supported, what needs a document and what is a gap2. If no approved claim exists, the requirement shows as a gap or needs a document; the answer is written by hand, sourced and approved before sharing3.

The practical difference. Vanta's source is a knowledge base fed by your Vanta program and past questionnaires. AccountMade's source is a set of claims each approved once, with a named approver. If a claim later changes, AccountMade marks it wherever a draft uses it3.

About Vanta's 80% and 95% figures

Vanta's product page claims its AI answers an average of 80% or more of security questions automatically5 and that its AI-generated answers are accepted up to 95% of the time5. Both carry an asterisk: "Customer results may vary based on the information available in the knowledge base"5. So the figures describe customers with a well-filled knowledge base, not every buyer.

Vanta's "81% faster completion of security reviews"5 cites an IDC white paper from January 2025 that is "Sponsored by Vanta"5. These are Vanta's claims, not our tests. AccountMade publishes no accuracy figure; we found none on the AccountMade pages we checked.

Where Vanta is the better choice

  • You also need compliance automation. Vanta lists "Automated evidence collection for audit readiness"4. AccountMade is not a compliance platform.
  • Your buyers send spreadsheets, documents and portals. Vanta says it handles all three5, and its pricing page lists a "Browser extension for portals and documents"4. It also exports the questionnaire back into its original format5. We found no portal connectors listed on AccountMade's pages.
  • You need questionnaire answers in other languages. Vanta lists automated questionnaires in Spanish, French, German and Portuguese5.
  • You want a published accuracy figure to test. Vanta publishes 80% and 95% with a caveat5. AccountMade publishes none.
  • You need SCIM provisioning. AccountMade lists SAML SSO and SCIM as not currently available1. Vanta's own product page lists "SCIM for automated provisioning" under Advanced Questionnaire Automation5.

Where AccountMade is the better choice

  • A price you can read. Pro is $99 per user a month1; Business is $149 per user a month, and above 10 users it is a demo booking1. Vanta's pricing page tells buyers to request a demo for personalized pricing4.
  • An approval gate on everything. Nothing reaches a buyer until a person approves it2. Vanta says its AI Agent loops you in for final approval5, and lists approval workflows with an owner and status under Advanced Questionnaire Automation5.
  • Free viewers. Internal viewers and external recipients are unlimited on every plan1.
  • More than questionnaires. The same approved claims are reused in the brief, the deck and the architecture page2, and exports are DOCX, PPTX, XLSX, HTML and PDF1.

When not to choose AccountMade: you need SAML SSO or SCIM1, a customer API or data residency1, portal connectors, or a compliance platform in the same product. Test both: a 14-day AccountMade trial is free and needs no card1. Vanta's pricing page asks you to request a demo4.

How Vanta's questionnaire automation works, step by step

Per Vanta's product page: the AI Agent imports questions from third-party portals, spreadsheets, DOCX and PDFs5; it drafts answers from the knowledge base; you review and approve; then you export the questionnaire back into its original format5 and send it. The page also marks some steps, such as intake from Salesforce, Jira and Slack5, with an asterisk whose footnote reads "coming soon"5; check the live page for what is available to you.

Sources and last-checked dates

Every source below was read on 2026-10-20.
