Trace the change to the claim
Record the changed source, the affected claim, the asset locations where that claim appears, and the owner who decides whether an update is needed. Then compare the old evidence, new evidence, and deliberate local edits before changing the artifact. This makes it possible to update a data-retention description without overwriting a sales engineer’s scoped deployment note.
Accountmade’s product-change guidance frames this as a continuity problem: a portable or buyer-facing artifact needs a durable connection to its evidence and a review path after the source changes.

Worked change review
Illustrative worked example. Names, volumes, dates, and outcomes are fictional; replace them with approved evidence before use.
A documentation change alters the supported authentication setup. The reviewer finds one datasheet, one solution brief, and a demo script that mention the old setup. The datasheet is updated after engineering review. The solution brief has a customer-specific workaround, so it is flagged for the account owner instead of overwritten. The demo script is updated to show the new failure condition. The shared buyer copy receives a correction notice only if the reviewed recipient version is affected.
